A threshold is the line you stand on before you cross into somewhere new. It is the doorway, the edge, the last ordinary moment before everything opens up. That is the name we chose, because that is exactly where this is meant to meet you: right at the point where you step beyond.
Beyond is where altered states live. It can be extraordinary, and it can be vulnerable and unfamiliar, and it asks something of you that ordinary days do not. Most people who cross that line do it with almost nothing to hold onto: rumours, fear, marketing, silence. We think that is the real danger, and we built Threshold to change it.
What we are here to do
Our single most important value is to help you navigate the journey - before, during and after - with clear information, honest guides, and practices that actually hold up. Not warnings designed to scare you. Not products dressed up as advice. Just what is true, what the evidence says, and what experienced, careful people have learned.
We will never tell you what you are supposed to do. That is not our place. You know your body, your reasons and your limits better than we ever could. Our job is to meet you where you already are - not where someone thinks you should be - and to make sure that wherever you go, you go better informed, and safer.
How we hold ourselves to it
- Plain language. We say MDMA, molly, rolling, comedown. No euphemisms, no talking down.
- No judgment. We assume you will make your own decisions. Our work is to make them safer, not to grade them.
- Honest about evidence. Every meaningful claim is graded so you can see how solid the ground under it really is.
- Cited. We link to primary sources and reputable harm-reduction organizations, and we say plainly when something is uncertain or animal-only.
Threshold is not a medical provider and does not offer medical advice. Instead of claiming clinical authority, we do something more verifiable: we cite our sources - including the European Union Drugs Agency, the harm-reduction organization DanceSafe, and peer-reviewed research. Where the evidence is thin or early, we say so.
Who we are
We keep ourselves in the background on purpose. Threshold is made by people who have spent real time around these substances and the science behind them - and who would rather you weighed the information than the messengers. What matters here is whether what we tell you is accurate and useful, not who is telling you. So we let the work speak, and we keep the door open: if you research this, work in harm reduction, or carry lived experience worth sharing, we would like to hear from you.
A clear word on what this is, and isn't
We do not promote, encourage or facilitate the use of MDMA or any other substance.
Threshold exists so that people who have already made their own choices can make safer, better-informed ones. Nothing here is a recommendation to use, and nothing here is a substitute for professional medical care. The lowest-risk option is always not to use - and if you are struggling, reaching out for support is never the wrong move.
🚨 In a crisis
If someone is overheating, confused, having a seizure, or will not wake up, call your local emergency number now and say what was taken. Our Resources page lists helplines.
